Open Question: ACCOUNTING HOMEWORK HELP PLEASE!!!!?
ACCOUNTING HOMEWORK HELP PLEASE!!!!? On January 1, 2009, Carlin Corporation issued $2,400,000 of 5-year, 8% bonds at 95; the bonds pay interest semiannually on July 1 and January 1. By January 1, 2011, the market rate of interest for bonds of risk similar to those of Carlin Corporation had risen. As a result the market value of these bonds was $2,000,000 on January 1, 2011—below their carrying value. Andrea Carlin, president of the company, suggests repurchasing all of these bonds in the open market at the $2,000,000 price. To do so the company will have to issue $2,000,000 (face value) of new 10-year, 11% bonds at par. The president asks you, as controller, "What is the feasibility of my proposed repurchase plan?" Required: Prepare a memo (at least 3 paragraphs) to the president in response to her request for advice. The memo should include; A discussion of the economic factors that you believe should be considered for her repurchase proposal. Comment on the relative increase/decrease in interest expense for Carlin Corporation if a new bond issue is made. What is the carrying value of the outstanding Carlin Corporation 5-year bonds on January 1, 2011? (Assume straight-line amortization.) I AM ASKING FOR IDEAS TO WRITE THIS MEMO

Open Question: If you are selling a home........?
are you subjected to "Capital Gain," taxes? If so, at what percent does that tax run?
Open Question: What should I do if I was offered the job subjected to reference, employment history checks? (with fake info.)?
I was offered a job with quite a good pay package for my profile but some of my info was misrepresented e.g. stretching my employment history(over a year), salary. The job period that I over stretched has no direct relevance to the one I was being offered, but the HR required me to provide an annual income statement of my previous year and previous employer's email which I simply couldn't provide. SHOULD I COME CLEAN WITH IT AND HOPE THAT THE COMPANY IS WILLING TO REVIEW MY APPLICATION AGAIN KNOWING THAT THIS POSITION IS OPENED TO FRESH GRADS ALSO MEANING MY PAST EXPERIENCE IS NOT THE MOST IMPORTANT CRITERIA?
Open Question: What would you do? (Requested days off work denied)?
Here's the summary of it all..... In our employee handbook it reads: "Employees of employ for longer than 90 days must give a two weeks notice for unpaid personal days. Which will be granted within reason" I requested two days off for a (non-work related) convention two and a half months in advance. My boss approved the days. So I bought my non-refundable tickets, booked my rental car and hotel room. Now the boss says she doesn't know if I'll have those days off. Which makes no sense to me. We have are a tiny gas station with two shifts and four employees! One person works each shift, each day. This is how we each get two days off a week. Why can't my two days be the two I need?!?!?! So.... What would you do in my situation?
Open Question: I Need Resume Examples?

I can see my coworkers, boses etc who have just given up on life and become work drones. I wake up in the morning, feeling like I don't want to feel anything and I go to bed dreading the moment I wake up. What do I do?
Open Question: How to apply for a job?
I am 16 years old and i am trying to apply for a job but i don't know how. My mom tells me that every job now-a-days, you have to apply completely online. I am having doubts about that because I still think that some jobs also accept for you to print out an application and turn it in at the store. Please help, I would gladly appreciate it.
Open Question: so i had a second interview today - following up on the first one - but did I get the job ?
basicaly the 2nd interview I had was from a major stakeholder/ceo of the company - its a startup company but he did tell me that the hours would be 8am to 6pm monday to friday - and then asked me how i would be commuting to work, and also when i could start. he closed the interview by telling me that i'd hear from his HR manager or something, in 3 to 4 days time. does that mean they STILL havent reached a final decision ? or they have - but they are just making preparations for me to start in their company (desk space, itinery, action plans, training etc) or what !?? im gonna offered the position right ? or im not gonna get offered the position ? the ceo guy seemed impressed btw with my answers. just wondering...

I went on a mission trip last summer. I received a mix of donations to pay for my trip, however I paid for 1/3 myself out-of-pocket. That was 5% of my total income for last year. I would like to claim this amount on my taxes. Will this make a difference at all?

Open Question: A Level/Degree/Career Help?
Hi, so currently I am doing my first year of A Levels, I'm doing Geography (Target - A/B), IT (B) and Moving Image (B), but I don't really know what to do after A Levels. With the options I have chosen, what degrees would I be able to take, and where would they lead to, career-wise? I was thinking of computing, but apparently that degree is a joke, so I looked at computer science, but I will need a maths A level. After looking around, I found out I can do the whole maths A level in 1 year on an evening course at my local college (I got a B (2 marks of an A) at GCSE), would this be worth getting? I was also thinking about picking up Economics for a AS next year. So basically my questions are, with my current options, what degrees/careers should I be heading for? And would you recommend getting the Maths A level, and Economics AS? (If yes, where could they lead) Thanks PS I haven't done Maths since October of Year 11, over 1 1/2 ago.
Open Question: Should I call today....?
I had my interview about 2 weeks ago HR said everything looked good and she had to get some references from my current job then she would call me Last week I called and left a voicemail She responded by leaving me a voicemail saying that she received 7 or 8 applications and had to review them and that if she didn't get back to me by Thursday (yesterday) feel free to call her Should I then call today?
Open Question: What's a reliable Associate's Degree?
I would like to know what Associate degrees are out there that are reliable in terms of marketability and decent pay. I don't intend on making huge salaries or anything above 55k+ /yr to be honest... I just want something that can get me a job immediately "or quickly" once I am awarded the degree in question, and I want it to pay off decently well. I'm really looking for suggestions honestly. So if you have any suggestions on a 2 year degree that pays well enough and is very marketable and in demand and can get you a job quickly out of school I'm all ears, please have facts to support your suggestion if possible. Thank you. Also, I live in a small town in Western New York, and it would be difficult for me to relocate.

Open Question: Questions about credit cards and rebuilding credit?
My husband and I declared bankruptcy about a year ago. We are trying our hardest to rebuild our credit and get back to a good place. He has two credit cards already, but they are in his name only. I want to get credit cards in my name. How many credit cards should I have? 2? 3? Should I apply for 2 or 3 credit cards all at once? Or should I space out my applications (or does it matter)? Is it ok to apply for 2 different credit cards from the same company (eg. 2 cards from Capital One?) Should my husband and I get a joint credit card? Thanks for your answers!! (By the way, so far he has done a good job with his credit cards and paid off the balances every month. He hasn't gotten a single interest charge. The only thing I'm worried about is the first credit card he got - it only had a limit of $700 and we got pretty close to the limit one month, but we paid off the entire balance. I read somewhere that you should only use 30% of the balance available because creditors can see your "high balance" when they run your report. Is that true - is the amount you use more important than when you pay?)

What if I sell one call for 1 dollar at a 17 dollar strike price. I sell the call when the stock xyz is ten dollars. The stock rises to 10.75, my call I'm selling has gone against me and is now worth 1.50. I am now down 50 percent, would my brokerage force me to close my call? But the call is under the strike price. Let's say I have 5000 dollars in my account that I'm not using but I'm down 50 percent, 50 dollars on that one call.
Open Question: How is working at Target Backroom team member position?
How is working at Target Backroom team member position? Ok I just had a phone interview for a Backroom team member position at Target. A backroom team member consists of Keep merchandise organized and accessible. Work as part of a fast, fun and friendly Backroom team. Maintain a clean, great-looking store. Quickly and accurately respond to merchandise requests. As I was on the phone interview she also told me that everyone is trained on the cashier and I may be asked to work cashier. I'm not really good with money that was the point in me filling out for the backroom in the first place. I mean I know how to count, but lets just say it will be best for everyone for me to stay away from a cashier... She said the job is up to 40 hours a week. So my QUESTIONS is am I only going to be doing backroom stuff and when I finish they might put me on the cashier? OR will they like schedule A WHOLE DAY ON THE CASHIER WHEN NOTHING NEEDS TO BE DONE IN THE BACK? BECAUSE I KNOW A TRUCK DOESN'T COME EVERYDAY THAT AS TO BE UNLOADED AND STOCKED! I really don't want to be on a cashier should I tell them as well if hired?

I'm 18 and in college now though. Questions the interviewer will probably ask and how should I respond? 1) Do you have any volunteer or work experience? 2) What have you been doing in spare time? 3) What skills do you have? 4) Why do you want to work at (cinnabon; the place I am getting interviewed at)? 5) Tell me about yourself? P.S. Do you have to talk more than the interviewer?
